Applications
Stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, additive manufacturing: adapt the treatment to the material, its surface condition, and its manufacturing method.
The material is a starting point. Grade, initial condition, manufacturing process, assemblies, geometry, and function together determine the surface treatment suited to your part.
The Challenges
01
Taking into account the actual material present, its composition, and its manufacturing method.
02
Examining its condition, roughness, topography, and any alterations or contamination.
03
Selecting the process and chemistry compatible with the material and the desired result.
Your Need
Technochim develops and implements mechanical, chemical, and electrochemical treatments tailored to materials and their applications, from stainless steels used in pharmaceutical environments to alloys and surfaces resulting from more specific manufacturing processes.
Our Approach
Two parts made from the same alloy may require different strategies depending on their manufacturing, surface condition, geometry, and function.
01
Identifying the material
Gathering the grade, manufacturing process, assemblies, and available history.
02
Characterize the surface
Examining the initial condition, roughness, topography, deposits, or any alterations.
03
Assess Feasibility
Defining the process, chemistry, and, where necessary, compatibility testing.
04
Treat & characterize
Carrying out the treatment and verifying the defined surface characteristics.
Understanding materials
Stainless steel plays a central role in pharmaceutical, biotech, and high-purity environments, notably for its corrosion resistance properties and its suitability for integration into process equipment and installations.
Technochim works with 316L and various stainless steel grades, adapting the strategy to the actual condition of the surface and its intended use.
Depending on the issue at hand, this strategy may combine degreasing, pickling, passivation, derouging, descaling, mechanical polishing, electropolishing, or other surface preparation and restoration operations.
Additive manufacturing processes open up new design possibilities, but also generate specific geometries and surface conditions.
The post-treatment strategy must therefore take into account the alloy, the manufacturing process, the initial topography, and the desired final characteristics.
Technochim is building its expertise in this field with dedicated additive manufacturing testing facilities and the study of treatments suited to these new surfaces.

Technochim Expertise
Technochim combines material knowledge, surface characterization, and mastery of mechanical, chemical, and electrochemical processes to determine the strategy suited to each application.
The choice of treatment is therefore never based on the material name alone, but on the combination of material + surface condition + manufacturing + desired function.
